Online Training
Gateway to the world’s knowledge
Online Training is the generic term for the modern form of network-based, multimedia, and brain-based learning. It usually involves a series of courses on a specific topic with an exam or qualification at the end.
Blended Learning
There are online seminars that are live and synchronous: Participants come together at a set time on a video platform in a virtual seminar room and acquire new knowledge under the guidance of an experienced instructor. In addition to a laptop or PC, this form of Online Training requires at least a webcam and a headset with a microphone.
For asynchronous online courses, a laptop or PC and speakers and/or headset are sufficient. The content is summarized in a curriculum and on a Learning Management System (LMS), which contains several units. These include videos, images, text, and hyperlinks. Access to the course is usually distributed via email, including a link.
Another popular form of online Training is blended learning, i.e., (live) online training in virtual classrooms with e-learning and face-to-face sessions. An online-supported self-learning phase allows participants to work through what they have learned while the classroom sessions consolidate the content.
Online training courses are offered by professional learning service providers but also by universities. Access to MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) is often free of charge; sometimes, a fee is charged for acquiring a certificate.
