Skilled Employees

Skilled employees

The essential economic factor for companies

Skilled employees are workers who have completed vocational training in a trade, business, or technical field in addition to their school-leaving qualifications. In a broader sense, this also includes persons who have completed a technical college or university degree. However, the term is not protected and does not define a specific level of knowledge or education.

Skilled employees are characterized by the totality of their knowledge, experience, and skills; they are persons who, based on their technical training, knowledge, and experience, can be relied upon to assess and properly perform the tasks assigned to them – including knowing all relevant standards and hazards associated with their activities.

Skilled employees exist in almost every field, from skilled trades and commercial occupations to artistic, scientific, or technical professions.

Shortage of skilled workers limits industry growth

Entrepreneurs who rely on Skilled employees can be sure that the employees have professional knowledge and sound know-how. This ensures competence for their own company and at the same time strengthens their position vis-à-vis the competition. The more experienced an employee is, the more flexibly they can be deployed for various activities. Flexible deployment options are essential in small and medium-sized companies. Skilled employees also ensure competitiveness, generate innovations, and promote the company’s growth and the economy. Skilled employees are considered elementary economic factors that boost the performance of our economy and thus strengthen the country economically.

Although there is no nationwide shortage of Skilled employees across all professions and regions, Skilled employee shortages have become entrenched in some professions and are now affecting all of Germany. Occupations in the skilled trades, the metal, and electrical industries, and the STEM sector are particularly affected.
